According to a recent report from the Onion fake news report Mark Zuckerman won a medial from the CIA for his work with face book. Of course it is not true but it is true.

Are you feeling confused.

The Onion News commentator Brooke Alvarez reports that the US Congress voted to extend the CIA’s massive surveillance program over at Facebook. To see your tax dollars hard at work this diary invites you to watch the embedded Youtube video at the bottom of this diary for the full story. For those of you who can’t watch this video, because you’re still on dial up or on some low tech wi fi handheld, this writer invites you to read this diary video review.

London occupiers are protected as squatting in vacant properties is not criminalized in England!

(Written by an American Expat living in the E.U.)

The cold winter weather and squatting evictions have hurt the Occupy movement in America because squatting is criminalized in Ameria. . But this has to the same extent not been the case in England because squatting isn’t criminalized in England.

When is it enough? We’ve all read the headlines about the Occupy Movement being evicted from Zuccotti Park in New York and other public spaces all around the United States from sea to shining sea, but what we at the Kos haven’t been talking about is the Occupy Movement in the European Union to the same extent. As if it were a different movement, it isn’t! But yet it is in one very important way. Squatting isn’t criminalized in England. They get to occupy buildings legally to set up sleeping quarters, office space, have indoor plumbing, heating, lights, windows with real glass in them, paved flooring that don’t have grass growing up your azz! Toilets, oh my God the Occupy Movement lives in the age of toilets and showers with hot water, imagine they can get Internet installed and I don’t mean on a stick, landline telephones and occupiers can use that address to register if they are unemployed for jobless benefits from the state. Even if they are single, that is jobless benefits that never run out, and they get complete medical, dental, prescription medication coverage, but perhaps most importantly of all occupying in England, that is in the fair city of London, which is colloquially referred to as squatting is covered even to this very day by something called Squatter’s Rights.

Protesters said they “occupied” the building in the early hours

The Occupy London protest group says it has taken over a fifth site in London.

Up to 20 demonstrators moved into Roman House, on Fore Street, Barbican, in the City of London, between midnight and 02:00 GMT, an Occupy spokesman said.

The group said they planned to “open the building to the public” on Monday. The empty office building is believed to be owned by Berkeley Homes.

City of London Corporation and police said they were aware of the occupation.

The latest move from the protesters comes after the corporation won its High Court case on Wednesday to evict protesters from outside St Paul’s Cathedral, where Occupy London Stock Exchange group set up their tents on 15 October.

“The City of London Police have visited the building and have agreed that it is a civil matter.”

I knew I had to leave America when I was no longer able to go to the county fair.

(This diary was cross-posted by author from the Daily Kos and was rated as the number #1 diary on January 14th 2012 as indicated at the link below.)

(Written by an American Expat living in the E.U.)

That’s when I knew the America I grew up in was gone for good.

For me leaving home, family and friends was easier for me to live with than watching the America that I grew up in die!

In order for me to stay human! I couldn’t allow myself to become desensitized and assimilated to the hunger, fear and suffering. I knew for me to not be assimilated and stay human I was going have to leave America for good. I had to leave America! It was just too painful to stay and watch the America I grew up in die!

There’s something deeply medieval about neo feudal America as 132 million Americans who can’t eat normal food because they can’t properly chew anything because they have no dental insurance. While some people like to wake to music from their clock radios, these Americans can’t really appreciate the rendition that you and I hear fully, because they have ringing in the ears, that’s what dental pain does, and too many of them millions, many of them children live that way everyday in the richest country in the world which doesn’t really give a shit about them!

As an American expat people tell me I’m a brave soul to have left America, home, family and friends, that people like me are a brand of the new American pioneer, who no longer just go West but every direction of the compass now. I realize I had to leave America when I saw I could no longer go to the fair. The America that I was raised in, county fairs were a big event. They had rodeo’s and clowns. The future farmers of America had events where they could win prizes. The fairways were busy with people and eating wonderful things like cotton candy in big reddish orange plumes, and laughing and going on bumpy rides to the cheers and screams of delight echoing through the fairgrounds.

Now the fairgrounds of America from sea to shining sea are regularly turned into what some are calling the nightwalkers’ waiting room, who stand in long lines sometimes all night to get urgently needed dental care. They don’t mind staying up and standing out in the cold, in the dark often times with their family members, because they and the people around them live in chronic pain, probably almost everyday. These people are desperate and they are too afraid to go to sleep, because they know that with first come, first serve, people will be getting turned away before daybreak. Some have been quoted as saying that farm animals are treated better than they are.

In the America I grew up in we used to care about each other.

What the Hell happened to us? Where did America lose its way?

Death of America's empire:45 million on food stamps,60 million no sick leave,59 million no medical

As an American expat who lives in the European Union, shortly after my arrival here I started to realize that I’d be freed from the propaganda exercise of the American plutocrat owned media.

So it is that at least for the ephemeral duration of this short diary originally published at the Daily Kos, that I invite you to come along with me and to see exactly what it is that the for profit American corporatists media owned and operated by the plutocracy never want you to see.

For openers what this diary will show you is that America is the only major industrialized nation in the world that as a human right does not provide a universal medical access plan for all residents (59 million Americans are without medical insurance), and that America is the only major industrialized nation in the world that doesn’t provide job protected paid maternity leave by right of law in support of true working class family values. Unlike every country in the European Union, America does not provide paid sick leave to 60 million working class Americans. Let’s put that in perspective, that is a population the size of France. Americans receive fewer annual leave days by half of any country in the European Union, and unlike every country in the European Union, American employers are not required by law to provide any annual leave.

The chart below which the Telegraph is referring to shows America ranking last in terms of unemployment benefits.

Getting this information out of how badly the American working class is exploited by the

plutocracy seems to be mission impossible, in fact this diary and ones like it as an

effort in citizen journalism will top out at less than 2,000 views, that is a drop in the

bucket, when we consider that agitators like Glenn Beck have an audience of an estimated

33 million per day, and this even after the cancellation of his Fox news televised

broadcast.

As an American expat who holds an MBA degree in marketing, even I know that the purpose of the plutocracy’s American corporatist media is not to inform you, it is rather to sell commercial advertising space.

This diary will show you what it is that mainstream news outlets in the European Union

say about the American dream and you will definitely be shocked, should you dare to read on…. You will see a record of sorrow wherein though American workers work more days than their European counterparts, they are in a system of legalized theft prevented by the plutocracy from being able to fully participate in the very wealth that they themselves have created through their own hard labor, and that this is in fact in sharp contrast to their counterparts in every country in the European Union, whose population is larger than that of the US, whose economy is larger than that of the US, and whose currency the Euro rivals the US dollar.

The US Dollar is being engineered to lose value as its no longer backed by gold. It is backed instead by words, referred to as the full faith and credit of the US government. But let’s understand that it’s not just the American people who have started losing faith in their government, it is also the Standard & Poor’s rating agency as well as the Chinese rating agency as described in an exclusive eye opening Spiegel magazine interview quoted on this diary.

There was a recent piece that was published by the New York Times written by Prof. Noam Chomskywhich includes the following quote on the issue of America in Decline.

August 6, 2011 –

America in Decline by Noam Chomsky

Not even discussed is that the deficit would be eliminated if, as economist Dean Baker has shown, the dysfunctional privatized health care system in the U.S. were replaced by one similar to other industrial societies, which have half the per capita costs and health outcomes that are comparable or better.

Indeed we can always be very grateful to Prof Chomsky as a very experienced man for his cogent telling and insightful comments. The plutocracy however, seems to be hellbent on continuing down the path of unbridled avarice no matter what the cost to the American people, as they are quite happy to bankrupt a nation if only it means continuing to enrich themselves. In doing so they have made themselves a pariah class by profiting from the dysfunctional for-profit American medical system.

Death of the American Dream is marked by the weakest social safety net & largest prison population

(Written by an American expat living in the European Union)

How is it possible that America which claims that it only has enough money to fund the weakest social safety net of any major industrialized country in the world, but can find money to fund the biggest prison system in the world. As an American expat living in the European Union I am often reminded of the words of Ebeneezer Scrooge in the Dicken’s tale when confronted with the request for social spending, he replies have we no work houses? Have we no prisons? Indeed American prison labor institutions have become the hallmark of modern day prison workhouses.

Indeed modern American prison workhouses may be the only place in any major industrialized country in the world where workers’ wages can compete with the 22 cents an hour wages paid for workers in Bangladesh and other developing nations around the globe. This shocking reality clearly is the hallmark of a pariah system and an international badge of shame! This gives new meaning to the phrase “only in America”.

5million American expats become health care refugees who have escaped for-profit Yankee health care

(Written by an American expat living in the European Union)

Millions of American expats all over the world having escaped the for-profit American health care nightmare which threatens them with medical bankruptcy death and destruction now face a new threat. Due to pre-existing clauses in the for-profit American health care system, untold numbers of American expats find themselves unable to return to the United States because they cannot buy medical insurance there on the free market ever again. This phenomenon is ignored by the American plutocrat owned media. You will never see it on an American news program. In order to see it you have to turn to Youtube.

While we can all be proud Americans, but we don’t need to be proud of the broken American social safety net that has at its center piece the broken for-profit American medical system.

Americans Abroad in exile (and our friends) for affordable medical coverage

DEDICATED TO THE UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS AND THOSE WHO CANNOT AFFORD PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE AND THOSE OF US WHO HAVE “VOTED WITH OUR FEET” AND LIVE IN OTHER COUNTRIES WITH UNIVERSAL COVERAGE.

Let us see how many American FB (Facebook) members will admit to living abroad because of no universal, equitable health care coverage in the US?

The library is a repository of everyone who has ever thought and written. You're about to lose it!

(This diary is written by an American expat living in the European Union who is a male business librarian who holds a graduate library degree (MLS) and a Master’s degree in business administration in marketing).

This diary written in support of library funding discusses the GOP led class warfare full throated assault on library funding, because they’ve decided that libraries are the last truly fully socialized government institution in America.

Book burnings couldn’t destroy the library, nor could banning books, nor could the ignorance or superstition of the Dark Ages or the branding iron of the inquisition calling certain texts heretical. Libraries have withstood the test of time and great historical disasters, such as the burning of the great library of Alexandria. All cultures even in antiquity value the libraries. Imagine the great libraries and ancient scrolls of Egypt. Let’s also remember the revolution of the Gutenberg printing press, removing economic barriers in creating affordable books. Libraries are where Western and Eastern philosophy have met seamlessly. But now libraries face the greatest threat in all history. It’s not the Internet, nor is it any of the things I’ve listed. It’s you not standing up to the for-profit motive in fee for service librarianship, which constitutes a de facto form of economic censorship, that threatens yet once again to render the masses functionally illiterate by creating a class of information haves and a class of information have nots, by de facto undoing the revolutionary work of the Gutenberg presses, which removed economic barriers to information for the masses.

Let’s consider the fact that some controversial studies have revealed that the majority of the 6 billion people on the planet are barely literate or functionally illiterate. Let’s consider that the hi-tech US military has most of its manuals written at the 9th grade reading level. Let’s consider that social scientists through voluminous studies have formed a strong nexus between crime and low literacy rates, and that in America as we have 2 million people incarcerated, that we have incarcerated nearly more people than exist in the military. Can we really afford this type of staggering loss of human potential? Can we really afford to stand by and watch the end of library public funding grow ever closer and for most people to continue to do nothing!

In the furtherance of the GOP led class warfare, Beck mocks Pres. Obama's speech on Japan in VIDEO

(Written by an American expat living in the European Union)

The GOP led class warfare after it’s bizarre twists and turns through the leadership of Gov. Scott Walker’s union busting antics seems to have taken yet another bizarre and shameful turn through the actions of the Tea Party’s favorite celebrity Glenn Beck. In preparation for the 2012 election Tea Party’s class warfare campaign in an attempt to embarrass and weaken the Obama administration and the Democrats, Glenn Beck mocked President Obama’s speech on the tragedy that has befallen Japan.

On March 17th, Glenn Beck with a set backdrop mirroring the Oval Office in the White House gave a speech regarding the tragedy in Japan that Beck believes President Obama should have given. As such on national television, Glenn Beck pretending to be President of the United States gave that speech to an American and international audience numbering in the millions. This diary invites you to watch that video and decide for yourself if Glenn Beck was exploiting the terrible tragedy that has befallen the Japanese people in order to score cheap political points with his Tea Party base. At which point shouldn’t we ask, is there anything that Fox News will not do in order to gain rating points as truly these people have no shame?!

I invite you to follow me below the fold to watch this shameless video.

US banksters discuss $50 debit card limit. Is it time to get a foreign debit card? (An expat's view

As an American expat who holds an MBA degree and lives in the European Union I do have a personal opinion on foreign debit cards, which is bluntly put they work. Now let’s be clear the intent of this diary is not to promote commercial debit card products of foreign banks. Nor is it to endorse any one bank. This diary does not present financial advice, but rather it is an opinion piece that offers general information.

Let’s be clear shall we please, as yet no one knows exactly how this issue will shake out, but we do know is that some major American banking players are discussing seriously limiting debit card transactions between $50 and $100 in US currency. This is based on the fact that they are being regulated to reduce their debit card fees from about .44 cents per transaction to about .12 cents. The American banksters answer is always to try to crucify the American working class with draconian measures, in this case severely restricting the amount of debit card transactions. At which point we should ask in a Geo-global economy, have you considered getting a foreign debit card, which can be done by mail in opening a US dollar account? This diary will examine that issue in a short essay, not meant by any means as an exhaustive treatment of the subject matter, but meant merely as a discussion starter.

The Library is America's last truly socialized institution and you're about to lose it

Did you know that the library is America’s last truly socialized institution and that everyday you come a bit closer to losing it! As a male who is a business librarian, (that is to say someone who holds graduate degrees in library science and an MBA degree in marketing), I understand very well that fee for service in America’s library systems are creating a class of information have-nots. For some of you this means that your children aren’t going to be able to read as well. It also means that as voters in a democracy, you will no longer be as well informed without full library services. As the series, the American dream vs the European dream which I was able to generously publish with the support of the Daily Kos community, we have seen that we cannot depend on the plutocrat owned radio and television media. Sometimes we have to go to print sources, even international print sources of the variety and scope that you can’t possibly afford as an individual to subscribe to them all. Additionally libraries make online databases available to their patrons that allow you with the touch of a button to read international media sources from around the globe. You’re in the process of losing this all and a lot more.

Now let’s ask why should you be interested in defending America’s last truly socialized institution? Well, let’s get down to it shall we? So you don’t think the library is a completely socialized institution. Well, let’s talk about the theory of a library for just one minute, which is everyone who walks in the door and holds a library card has access completely to the same services. It doesn’t matter if they’re the mayor or a homeless person. Everyone in the library is supposed to be treated the same. It is the one place in America where equality doesn’t just get lip service. The American Library Association has produced a wonderful statement called the Freedom to Read Statement wherein it is believed that your freedom to read comes directly from the first amendment of the constitution of the United States. You’re about to lose that and that’s pretty darn important.
