Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

The Daily F Bomb, Thursday 2/7/13

Good morning, Bombadillos! I ache fiercely all over from yesterday’s workout, but it’s a good ache. Nothing a coffee/Advil cocktail won’t cure.

Interrogation time! Did you have strict parents or permissive ones? Did you behave or did you rebel and/or take advantage of their good nature? Pigeons: Rats with wings or a valued and wonderful bird?  How much do you usually leave for a tip? After family, pets, and photos, what would you save in a fire? What trait did you inherit from your parents that one does not usually considered inheritable (for instance, I have the smart-ass gene)?

Did you have strict parents or permissive ones?

    – mostly permissive. A bit too much, guidance is a good thing.

Did you behave or did you rebel and/or take advantage of their good nature?

    – both.

Pigeons: Rats with wings or a valued and wonderful bird?

    – pretty birds. Give the city some life and color.

How much do you usually leave for a tip?

    – 20%

After family, pets, and photos, what would you save in a fire?

    – a watercolor of my dog Jaxom.

What trait did you inherit from your parents that one does not usually considered inheritable (for instance, I have the smart-ass gene)?

    – hmmmm, hard one.

  2. Did you have strict parents or permissive ones?

    Sort of in-between.

Did you behave or did you rebel and/or take advantage of their good nature?

I rebelled weirdly – not drugs and violence but sitting in my room reading but never doing homework or studying.

Pigeons: Rats with wings or a valued and wonderful bird?

NYC pigeons are rats with wings. Other pigeons are wonderful.

How much do you usually leave for a tip?

    My default is 20%.

After family, pets, and photos, what would you save in a fire?

    My laptop.

What trait did you inherit from your parents that one does not usually considered inheritable (for instance, I have the smart-ass gene)?

    The arguing gene.

  3. Jk2003

Parents: strict but not mean, we just did things a certain way.

Behave?  I was good until I met that boy in my junior year.  Then I wasn’t baaaaaad but a little into myself ( and him)

Pigeons:  no opinion, they are just there

    Tip:  20 percent

    Save from fire:  knitting

Inheritable trait:  I received my fathers impatience with people.  Oh well.

Did you have strict parents or permissive ones? Permissive. Parent was not a verb for them. I used to dream that I had to write a book and read it at the same time.

Did you behave or did you rebel? Mostly docile but when I rebelled it was a doozy.

    Pigeons? Rats with wings.

How much do you usually leave for a tip?
    20%

After family, pets, and photos, what would you save in a fire? That’s a tough one. I’d have to think about it.

What trait did you inherit from your parents that one does not usually consider inheritable? The wordplay gene.

  5. cassandracarolina

    Strict. Draconian even.

Behave until college, then act up. Inevitable.

    Rats. Sorry..

    25% or more.

    My menagerie of stuffed animals

    Sarcasm

  6. Its the Supreme Court Stupid

Did you have strict parents or permissive ones? Generally permissive.

Did you behave or did you rebel and/or take advantage of their good nature? Take advantage

Pigeons: Rats with wings or a valued and wonderful bird? Rats with wings

How much do you usually leave for a tip? 15% plus round up.

After family, pets, and photos, what would you save in a fire? The owls (not, I venture to add, the Owl!).

What trait did you inherit from your parents that one does not usually considered inheritable (for instance, I have the smart-ass gene)? Punning gene

  7. Floja Roja

because this time it picked up on the “alt” instead of the “title.” It does that sometimes, but is not consistent.

  8. princesspat

My parents idealistically expected me to behave perfectly and were “disappointed” when I didn’t.

Pigeons are worse that rats…..fear/ick factor combined!

Tips are 20=25%…..and a serious quotient of respect, as I haven’t forgotten my days of college student food service servitude.

What would I save…..hmmmm, as the keeper of my mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers treasures and my own families antiques and memorabilia, may I never have to make that choice.

I’m tenacious, idealistic,  a perfectionist, and annoyingly focused at times……it’s gotta be somebodies fault!

    Time for recess, and coffee

  9. iriti

OK, that’s just cold. I haven’t had pasta since the pre-op diet for my weight loss surgery. So it has been 2 years since I’ve had pasta (see also soft drinks). I could eat me some Fettuccine Alfredo pre-op, though.

Did you have strict parents or permissive ones? Moderately strict.

Did you behave or did you rebel and/or take advantage of their good nature? Do you not see the wings on my back? Seriously, I was the rebel of MY family but that wasn’t saying much to be honest.

Pigeons: Rats with wings or a valued and wonderful bird?

Beautiful. Unless I have to clean up after them.

How much do you usually leave for a tip? 20%, reduced for poor service.

After family, pets, and photos, what would you save in a fire? My stuffed dog Flower, my Sara R quilt (bought) and my kindle. I’m not a big stuff person.

What trait did you inherit from your parents that one does not usually considered inheritable (for instance, I have the smart-ass gene)? Love for old musicals. Got that from Dad.

Except for the day I first wore my new Armani suit to work and a pigeon crapped all over my shoulder on Montgomery Street. The smell was VILE and no amount of scrubbing in the men’s room could eradicate it.

  11. mahakali overdrive

Did you have strict parents or permissive ones?

Very strict mother, very permissive father. Throw step-parents into the mix (both  completely permissive). Shake well with ice and strain.

Did you behave or did you rebel and/or take advantage of their good nature?

I moved out in my mid-teens.

Pigeons: Rats with wings or a valued and wonderful bird?

    Pigeons are gorgeous animals.

How much do you usually leave for a tip?

    As much as possible.

After family, pets, and photos, what would you save in a fire?

    Writing, journals, paintings, and such.

What trait did you inherit from your parents that one does not usually considered inheritable (for instance, I have the smart-ass gene)?

I’m not much like either of my parents, although my mother is a people-magnet which I think I picked up a bit of. Otherwise, I’m not really like either one of my parents.

  12. LeftOverFlowerChild

    Q&A time yea!

Did you have strict parents or permissive ones? Middle of the road.

Did you behave or did you rebel and/or take advantage of their good nature? Not until college and then all hell broke loose. My dad called it the delayed rebellion and blamed the liberal college professors lol…

Pigeons: Rats with wings or a valued and wonderful bird? Rats with wings.

How much do you usually leave for a tip? At least 20%

After family, pets, and photos, what would you save in a fire? Spinning wheel.

What trait did you inherit from your parents that one does not usually considered inheritable? My mother’s stubborn streak.

  13. Avilyn

good thing I already had me some coffee.

Did you have strict parents or permissive ones?

Somewhere in the middle, I think.  More on the strict side in terms of keeping track of us kids, but more permissive in letting us express ourselves.

Did you behave or did you rebel and/or take advantage of their good nature?

I was the good kid.  Until about my 3rd year at college, anyway.  Then I rebelled hard until I was about 24/25.

Pigeons: Rats with wings or a valued and wonderful bird?

Don’t think about them much ever.  But I’ll go with Thom Hartmann on this – they’re robot spies from the planet Xenu.

How much do you usually leave for a tip?

20% default.  More for good service; less for really really horrendous service (but it’s got to be really bad for me to go under 20%).

After family, pets, and photos, what would you save in a fire?

Computer hard drive.  Or my recipes.  (I should put my recipes on my computer)

What trait did you inherit from your parents that one does not usually considered inheritable (for instance, I have the smart-ass gene)?

Hmm.  Sarcasm.  Love of swimming.  Probably other stuff that I can’t think of right now.

day , apparently. Nothing mentioned ; I just happened to notice , ya see. It rained a lot last night.

Very strict mother; father was a soft-hearted strictness ennabler.

    Behaved.  Or misbehaved in secrecy.

The other name for pigeons is rock doves.  So they rock!

    20%+

iPod or computer, depending on how much time I had.

Wanderlust from my dad, coupled with a reluctance to be responsible.  (We are/were both actually exceedingly responsible, and I can’t speak for him, but I think we both hate(d) it.)

I haven’t been going to the gym often enough, but I went after work today, and the feeling after a workout is quite satisfyin’!
