Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Archive for November 2013

Building our own wave.

In 2009, Chris Christie and Bob McDonnell were the beneficiaries of the tea party anger purchased with corporate money, promoted by Fox News and organized by FreedomWorks and the Dick Armey in the Summer of 2009.

Christie of New Jersey and McDonnell of Virginia in November 2009 … Scott Brown of Massachusetts in March 2010 … and then the tea party wave election in November 2010 that appeared to sweep away our country’s common sense and which set up gerrymandered Republican majorities in statehouses across the country.

Today’s polls seem to indicate that we have a good chance to turn the tide in Virginia but not much hope in New Jersey where Gov. Chris Christie (R) appears to be a shoo-in for re-election.

What is the best dessert of all time?

What was the last foolhardy thing you did? (It doesn’t have to be major.)

What’s the most disgusting thing you’ve ever eaten (even just a taste)?

Odds & Ends: News/Humor

I post a weekly diary of historical notes, arts & science items, foreign news (often receiving little notice in the US) and whimsical pieces from the outside world that I often feature in “Cheers & Jeers”. For example …..

OLDER-YOUNGER BROTHERS? – Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (from “Modern Family”).

OK, you’ve been warned – here is this week’s tomfoolery material that I posted.

Weekly Address: President Obama – Passing a Budget that Reflects Our Priorities

From the White House – Weekly Address

In this week’s address, President Obama says that in order to keep growing the economy and creating good jobs, Washington must end its cycle of manufactured crises and self-inflicted wounds. It’s time for both parties to work together to pass a budget that reflects our priorities – making smart cuts in things we don’t need and closing wasteful tax loopholes, while investing in areas that create opportunities for the middle class and our future generations.

Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. TGIF!

At least I’m posting from Friday morning. To prevent a temporal anomaly, any of you who are reading from late Thursday night please close the diary and return when your time zone catches up. Because temporal anomalys are bad. Very very bad. Just trust me on this – do NOT mess with the space time continuum. Or perhaps I just need some caffeine.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.
