  1. Do you have an embarrassing middle name?

No, but my middle name is my wife’s first name.

What would your parents have named you if you were born the opposite sex?

    I have no idea.

Are you any good at lying?

    Naaaah.  Believe everything I say.

Have you ever been on TV?

Yes, but only in crowd type shots.

Can you pinpoint the main thing responsible for the Dumbing Down of America?

America hasn’t really dumbed down. Nor have other countries. But what has happened is that the ignorant now have ways to make their ignorance widely known.

  2. When you really stop and think about it, you realize you probably shouldn’t stop and think about it.

       – God (@TheTweetOfGod) June 11, 2013

Exactly. And I will conduct myself accordingly.

And this: National Jerky Day and Darrell Issa: Darrell Issa Refuses To Release ‘Evidence’ That Obama Conspired With IRS To Target Tea Party

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) is refusing to release transcripts of interviews with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agents that allegedly prove how political officials in the Obama administration directed the IRS to target conservative groups applying for 501 (c)(4) status.

The California congressman, whose committee is conducting an investigation into the agency’s behavior, provided CNN excerpts of interviews with IRS agents on June 2 and assured host Candy Crowley that “the whole transcript will be put out.”

  4. Do you have an embarrassing middle name?

No. It’s my mom’s first name.

What would your parents have named you if you were born the opposite sex?

They probably would have named me for a pope.

Are you any good at lying?

    No. I don’t practice enough.

Have you ever been on TV?

    Not that I know of.

Can you pinpoint the main thing responsible for the Dumbing Down of America?

I’ll go with plf’s answer above. A different but related problem is the disdain now shown to facts and those who know them, and the response by media to provide a “balanced” view.

Do you have an embarrassing middle name? no, perfectly normal & boring

What would your parents have named you if you were born the opposite sex? no idea

Are you any good at lying? horrible – my face always tells everyone exactly what I think, so I don’t bother trying to lie

Have you ever been on TV? Yes. When the MLK statue was dedicated on the UT campus, they interviewed the 3 of us who started the group that eventually got it done.

Can you pinpoint the main thing responsible for the Dumbing Down of America? wish I knew

  6. Floja Roja

Hmmm, I slept later than usual. But it’s still only 6:30 here.

Do you have an embarrassing middle name?

I don’t have a middle name. Probably because my mom grew up being called by her first and middle name.

What would your parents have named you if you were born the opposite sex?

Stafford after my maternal grandfather. My brother had already been named after out paternal grandfather.

Are you any good at lying?

Not unless the lie is so outrageous that nobody would believe it.

Have you ever been on TV?

    Nevair!

Can you pinpoint the main thing responsible for the Dumbing Down of America?

I’d say reality TV, but they are only continuing the process. Maybe it was those awful talk shows that were all the rage in the 90s.

  7. PadreJM

    Embarrassing middle name? Nope.

Name if born the opposite sex? Hard tellin’, except given the names of my siblings and me, it would likely not have been particularly imaginative.  My father’s favorite aunt was Julia, and mother was very fond of her mother’s name, Catherine, so those are possibilities.

Are you any good at lying? My memory would make it impossible to keep any story straight.

Have you ever been on TV? I was media spokesperson for a couple of groups during my community organizing days.

Can you pinpoint the main thing responsible for the Dumbing Down of America?  Entirely subjective opinion: virtual elimination of instruction in basic logic and critical analysis in the public schools.

I’m on twitter! I initially opened an account just to rec DK diaries because Markos says they count. I could never get into it before, but I started reading and reading, and I’m liking it a lot better thank DK. No BS moderation to deal with. If I don’t want to have #twittercourse with the toxic people from DK, I can block them, thank doggies. I’m the boss of my own account. I’m liberated!

My middle name is actually my mother’s maiden name. Old family tradition. It’s short and sweet and not at all a weird-sounding name.

I was on TV once intentionally, and once on the news when there was a huge gas explosion at the end of my block. The news crews were at the other end of the block with their cameras rolling and I saw myself on live TV looking out the front window. That was interesting.

I made my chicken quesadillas yesterday using that chipotle mayo recipe. Delish, but 2 peppers is a bit too hot for me. Next time just one, with a little more sauce. I liked the smoky flavor.

Pic below, grill marks are from Foreman grill. Easier to do than in a skillet. Chicken, chipotle mayo, bacon, tomatoes, and cheddar and after grilling, topped with sour cream, lettuce, and salsa. I usually make pico de gallo, but I had 2 big bottles of salsa from Costco and didn’t want it to go to waste.
