Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

What a crazy  (and blessed) day yesterday.  Hubby normally takes the 6AM bus commute (2 hrs) into work in NYC.  yesterday.

But he had a client who asked for special services so had to get up early and catch the 5AM – grumbling about it. He was doing the guy a favor – but was still grumpy about it.

When he got to work – the client wasn’t there.  Hubby was pissed.

Little did we know – the bus he usually takes was in a freak accident- and the passenger in the seat hubby often sits in – behind the driver – was critically injured by a flying tire that crashed through the windshield…

Wow.  So the good deed spurned turned out to be a blessing.

    Ya never know.

90s — but maybe rain, and maybe even lots of it by the end of the week

Eating breakfast, drinking tea. Swim stuff is in the trunk (last e-mail I read said today’s tri practice is swim). Since Yahoo “upgraded” their mail, half the time I can’t read mine, so I hope it still is a swim. I hate yahoo mail.

Very sleepy. I miss my fitbit telling me exactly how little sleep I got. But I’ve closed my eyes & drifted off for a second twice just writing this update.

Today: stay awake all day, refresh damned yahoo mail till I can read where the workout is, swim.

a respite back into the more pleasant 80s and even 70s for highs and lower 50s for lows – starting tomorrow and through the weekend.  “They” say we’re even supposed to get rain starting Thors’ day which we need although not as much as points west.  Hope 1) that we get it at all and 2) that it comes down hard enough to wash the layer of pollen off my PVs (not wishing to climb on the roof to deal with that myself).  Meanwhile, back to hot but at least not muggy today – still working on summer payroll and have QC Finance Committee tonight.  Hope everybody has a great day.

I’ve got to stay indoors and tend to business today….or else! The laundry and desk are in  worrisome piles of disarray.

Eugene Robinson has some good advice….

Time for some happy talk from Democrats

Democrats now have a positive story they can tell in their campaign ads and speeches: “We promised you that these were the right policies to get the economy on track and reform health care. We said it would take time to see results and asked for patience. You gave us your trust, and now we’re seeing the benefits. This is just the beginning. Give us a mandate to keep moving forward on an agenda that is working.”

This is what Democrats are saying, more or less. But would it hurt to show a little enthusiasm?

    ~snip~

Listen up, Democrats. You fixed the economy. You expanded access to health care. Oh, and you ended two wars.

Show a little happiness. It’s contagious.
