Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Thursday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

something or other. Yesterday it was in the high 30s at noon so read the paper outside at lunchtime. Now for the news and to see what the racists and war mongers are up to 🙁

backyard has melted. Good! Might be almost warm this weekend. BTW, don’t forget this Saturday at 2 a.m. the switch to Daylight saving begins! Bummer. I always feel as if someone has stolen an hour’s sleep from me. Recognize I’m in the minority, though, most people seem to like Daylight Saving.

Hope to stop by again later today–I’ve got to get Miss Pink Cheeks washed and dressed. Have a good day, everyone!

Chilly this morning, but I did without the hat & gloves. And it’s going to be gorgeous this afternoon. I have some shoes of a sort – squishy, size 13 mens’s from the thrift store. They’re way too long but they’re wide enough.

I woke up in the night & took off my wrappings. Bad, I know, but they hurt too much. It took around 40 minutes to re-wrap after my shower this morning, and I know it is nowhere near as tight as they do it. But I’m going back this afternoon, they can do it tight then. And 4 hours’ sleep pretty much is a great excuse for getting rid of one cause of waking, I think.

So, goal for today – stay awake long enough to go to the appointment.

Dean’s Tree Service is coming this morning to carefully trim some height and weight from my old Camilla. The snow didn’t break any branches but it will be less vulnerable if the leaf canopy is smaller. I’ll save all the branches and share them with the flower shop as Camilla stems still bloom in water and the leaves are my favorite for arrangements.

The snow did break branches on a small tree by the garage, so that one will have to go. The good news is it will free a spot for the climbing hydrangea I’ve been wanting to plant.

Feels good to have my thoughts returning to the garden.

but the sidewalks are covered with ice/snow/slippery crud so while driving is getting back to normal, walking most certainly is not.  Nightlight Savings Time is coming.  I hatez it.  A plague of boils on teh buttz of those who have the authority to get rid of it until they do so!  Be extra careful on Monday folks – for whatever reason, there’s an increase in both accidents and illness right after the time change.  {{{HUGS}}} to the Mooselanders.
