Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. Remember to let your peeps know where you are!

Here’s today’s Motley Monday Shot of the Week, taken at Yellowstone National Park in 2010

Lower Falls

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Heading for a high of 75 degrees. Wait, what??? Yep, you read that right – Spring has finally sprung here. Hooray!

    Happy Monday, all!

32 degrees with an expected high of 50. April showers are expected most of this week.

I’m just passing through this morning. I feel the continuation of a nap coming on.

Neighbor Rhona phoned me early to wake me up. Today I WILL get to the State Dept between 8 and 9 am to drop off client doc’s to be authenticated. Been trying to do this but couldn’t get outta bed early enough.

DAR Library after State Dept. DAR is behind the white house. Can’t remember if there are any cherry blossoms at that end of the mall.

Thanks for the weather forecast Iriti. I’d be mizzerable if I dressed too warm. Tee and … something lightweight with buttons and a collar … over it. I think. Maybe I have a decent short-sleeved something or other. Why does 6:40 am have to be so early?

Have coffee, will just sit here a few minutes. Somebody yell at me when it gets to about ten of seven?

followed by high of 82 on Wednesday – this of course accompanied by major thunderstorms.

Oh well – I’m gonna enjoy a few days of less layers of clothing 🙂

Shop update: 3 of the 4 exterior walls are painted, and 100′ trench is dug for electric feed – 10′ of it by hand due to a phone trunk line in the path, the rest done by trencher. We will not have any trouble getting a well established on our land – we apparently have a spring about 16″ underground in one part of the lot. The lower part of the trench was flooded and water was trickling into the ditch when we got there Sunday. Most wells in the area are about 100′ deep, so we’re lucky. It won’t take more than about 100′ to get good water flow.

Next weekend’s projects: run 3″ conduit in the trench and put ground rods in the ground. Once that is done, time for inspections and power up!

I will add this… I am sore this morning from digging that last 10′!!

  6. Morning Meeses. Really pretty out today. Ironically after writing the arthritis diary last night it was a real rough night and I only got a couple hours sleep.

I’ve been thinking about my Mom for the last couple of days. She really like this picture.

get close to 70 this afternoon.  Had nice soaking rain go through over night, still a little left in the neighborhood for a little longer this morning.  Supposed to be a rainy week with a chance for ‘mixed’ on Thursday.  I didn’t sleep worth a darn last night.  Trouble getting to sleep, think it was after 11pm, woke to the sound of rain a couple of times…  Wish I could take a nap!!  Nothing much planned for the week.  The weekend was quite, got some reading done.

northern Virginia. I do hope to get a lot done today!

Love that photo of the waterfall. We’ve got to hotfoot it to the garden center tomorrow to get spray for the apple trees.  We’ve reluctantly decided to be “nonorganic” this year because our apple trees are in such pitiable condition.  The last few years the apples haven’t been good at all, just eaten up by insects and goodness knows what else.

On a happier note, the weather will be warm enough this week to set up the vegetable trug and the strawberry bed.  Hoping to get bricks to make blueberry beds at the side of the house, where they won’t get quite so sun-blasted.

Oh, BTW–granddaughter LOVED her birthday short story!  She was 19 yesterday.  Now that she’s older I can make the stories edgier instead of relentlessly upbeat.

    Hope everyone will be able to get out and enjoy the warmth and sunlight at some point today!  Michelewin, hope you can get some rest after your bad night. {{{Michele}}}

  9. It was raining as I awoke this morning, but it’s probably passed through and done for the day. High about 73, according to Mr. Hourly. Current temp about 46.

I’m still cutting fabric to make 24 6″ churndash blocks. There are 17 pieces of fabric in each 6″ block. Yeah, they’re small. And each block will be different, so I’m cutting a small amt from many different pieces. It’s a much slower process than assembly line cutting and sewing. The pleasure is that each block made is a new gift, a new surprise, different than the ones that came before.

This evening I get to see my buddy Beth!!

    Have a great day.

  10. Yesterday evening I joined friends at their home 10 miles out in the country for a grass burn off of some of their prairie. The breeze was light. The smoke didn’t go into anyone’s house. The four of us kept it contained as it slowly worked it’s way upwind and along the roadside. It was a nice way to enjoy the evening.

Clear skies have returned after a VERY windy night. 49°F with predicted high in the mid-60s. Not a bad way to start a new week.

  12. bfitzinAR

rainy for pretty much the rest of the week they says – and cooling/colding (is that a word?) off as of Wednesday night.  QC committee meetings tonight (at the Sheriff’s Annex) and tomorrow (regular Courthouse).  Manic/maniac stage of priority registration.  Hope everybody has a good day.  I’ll get back if I can.  Y’all take care, bf

We are back to perfect weather – lows in the 60s, highs around 80.

So, late last week, the running store that houses my workout groups (not my triathlon group, the other group) was shut down for being behind on their rent. They celebrated their 25th anniversary last Monday. The shutdown was the top story on the news for 2 days. There have been lots of statements of support – the owner says people have offered space to re-open. Anyway, my groups are coming up with other places to meet. My friends who did the Capitol 10K over the weekend put signs on their shirts: “We Support RunTex”. That was the big news over the weekend.

I have lots of 80s music in my head because of the Maggie Thatcher news. For some reason, the Boomtown Rats keep interfering with the Sex Pistols & Elvis Costello. I’m assuming they hated her, too (if not more, being Irish), but the only song I know well enough to hear the lyrics when it plays in my head is I Don’t Like Mondays, which isn’t about her.

Anyway, what I’m doing today: sticking exactly to my diet plan, work, meet my RunTex group, not at RT but at the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue on the Lady Bird Lake trail. Great Goddess, I love Austin.

there was nothing else on — except the Animal Planet’s Cats 101.  Keke was spell bound!  So, now I know how to amuse her when I need to.  It was really cute as she craned her neck then turned to look at me, then back to the screen.  Guess I’ll let her watch My Cat From Hell next Saturday just to see how she reacts.  (Mean mama)

But it’s still really windy outside so I’m foregoing a walk this afternoon. I HATE wind, it scrapes my last tender nerve.

Instead I’ll do my (indoor) leg exercises and wait for tomorrow, which is supposed to be almost summery.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday — or at least getting through it okay. 😉

because this morning I was in an unrelentingly cranky mood. Took a long time to work out but glad to say it’s overcome now. Some days are like that and then you go look at the news and don’t get cheered up. When I read that there was a group pushing the NRA to the right I wondered if our country is just crazy.
