Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning meese! Happy happy Wednesday!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

High of 86 and exceedingly humid. Also thunderboomers.

I have taken Friday off for a training hike. Will be hiking a section of the Appalachian trail known as ‘The Rollercoaster’ because you go up-down-up-down, repeat. Then repeat again. My goal is to do at least 11 miles out, then turn around & return.

    Happy Wednesday!

The Appalachian trail is amazing – have explored portions of it here in NY. Enjoy your Friday walk Iriti.

  3. We have 67 degrees right now and the high, if the weatherfolks are right, will by 75 degrees. Partly cloudy skies.

    THAT sounds like blessed relief.

Fun stuff from Mississippi last night. Republicans screaming about the “sanctity of the vote”? As Bubba would say “HAHAHAHAHA!”. And this!!

Supreme Court Watch at 9:45am Eastern with more opinions due to be released at 10:00am. We are watching 6 cases closely. Justice Ginsburg pretty much confirmed that we will not see Hobby Lobby until Monday, the last day of the term.

I really, really hope it rains. My husband didn’t water the garden yesterday and it desperately needs it.

Nothing new here except that Miss Pink Cheeks’ family came to tea yesterday. Baby brother kept his eyes open the whole time. He’ll be four weeks old on Friday, so perhaps yesterday indicates that he’s going to take more interest in life.

I’m thrilled by the Mississippi primary results, less thrilled by Maryland’s–I’d have liked to see Gansler or Mizeur win–and interested in the Oklahoma results for senator. The Tea Party candidate lost.

If it rains this afternoon I’m going to reorganize the kitchen shelves.

Hope everyone will have a good day!

The reinstated pastor was on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show last night: http://on.msnbc.com/1mmdhyR

It’s gonna rain again today, yay! I left my umbrella in the car, sigh. Oh well, it doesn’t really bother me to get rained on.

And tonight is the big event for Wendy Davis. Everyone in town should be there, it should be fun.

I found some new to me begonias yesterday and a perfect trailing fushia to plant with them for the pots by the back door. The squirrels keep digging up another pot so I’ll replant that one and replace the petunias the slugs ate in another pot with something less appetizing. My plan was to finish big garden tasks in June and despite my various infirmities I’m going to do just that….yay!

Family life will be busy the rest of the week as summer with the grand kids starts today and our river rafting son returns tonight. The older kids want “jobs” this summer so Grammie Camp needs to include some tasks they can do for hire. My kids picked strawberries and cherries and were in demand sitters for the younger neighborhood kids, but my grand kids need different opportunities for the important learn to work experience. Seems like they are growing up to fast.

    end of year stuff, also end of summer session 1 classes (next week starts summer session 2 classes so still enrolling).  Not exactly quiet but not screamingly hectic either which is just as well considering the end of year stuff I need to be able to concentrate on. 🙂  Hope things are going well in Moosylvania.  {{{HUGS}}}
