Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning meese! Happy happy Wednesday!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

High of 84 with more storms possible all day.

I woke up needing a nap. I don’t guess my boss would approve if I took one, huh?

    Happy humpday one & all.

  2. I woke up needing a nap also; I stayed up too late gloating. 🙂 We can enjoy a moment of Schadenfreude before the realization sinks in that Eric Cantor’s loss means that we will likely get an even more anti-government Republican House Majority Leader. Perhaps we should redouble our efforts to insure that we have a Democratic House Majority Leader (and speaker!) next year.

It is 60 degrees here in Madison and will get to 72 but rain is in the forecast.

PLEASE stay out of trouble, all y’alls.

am preparing to put my puter into the hands of the Geek Squad again

The problem with it freezing up is still happening – sigh.

I’ll go grab the laptop in a few.

Overcast with showers. As for Cantor, WOW!  Worried about what that means for immigration reform. Also looks as though we don’t have a strong candidate opposing Brat. Looks as though he, Trammell,  and Brat are teaching at the same college. Can imagine the sitcom based on that! Well, it must have made Boehner’s day, week, year!

Acupuncture day. Hope it’s a good day for all.

So Cantor’s losing was not a happy dream. Wow.

High today supposed to be 96. I drove, not because of the heat but because I’m finally #1 in line for the book I’ve been waiting for at the library so I’m swinging by there after work to see if it’s ready.

Sleepy. Eating sweet potato breakfast & drinking tea. Earworm is a sweet Snow Patrol song about the really important stuff in life (“Ireland in the World Cup – either north or south”), called Lifening

    happy Hump Day.

After the pool this morning I’ll try to make another dent in my endless list  ::sigh::

My computer woes are thankfully nearly over. The two infected laptops are in Justin’s hands and deeper scanning found the bots so with a newly installed Kaspersy program they should be safe to use again. And the Comcast scan of our network this morning shows no bots. I feel like the computers have all had fleas!

here in NoVa. The wretched air conditioning system broke down, flooding the downstairs bathroom. It’s only two years old so what gives?  The fixer is on his way.

Lots to discuss today! Yet another school shooting and Cantor’s unexpected fall are whirling around my brain.

Is the NRA imposing population control by random death through firearms? How about Democrats starting to frame the discussion as “My right to live outweighs your right to carry guns”?

It’s getting to where one is afraid to go anywhere, really. We’re pretty much stay-at-homes–too lazy to go to movies, unwilling to spend more than minimum time at the mall (fast shopping trips on a weekday morning are more our speed), but even we occasionally have to leave the house to buy groceries and so on.

When will it end? And did Nate Silver predict Cantor’s spectacular walloping at the polls? I’m convinced it was crossover voting that was responsible.

That cartoon about the atoms is a riot, iriti!

Hope everyone in Moosylvania will have a good day!

looks like the A/C will be off at least the rest of the week 🙂

Well, I made a last call to Rockin aa (where the animal enclosure actually connects to the house, so he is going to get regular people contact) to see how Grey was doing once the tranquilizer wore off.  Apparently he loves the place.  Once Alita opened the “get acquainted” cage, he did a fast – kitteh z-o-o-o-m fast – tour of the perimeter, then came sauntering back.  He wandered indoors to check out the bathroom, slider windows, and cat door rubbing a few ankles along the way, then wandered back out and found a nice patch of sunshine.  He totally ignored all the other cats, not even a growl.  Alita said over and over how smart and how sweet he is.  He’s in the right place – and I’ve got good closure.

Hope everyone in Moosylvania is having a good day.
