Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

I’m running late today – have to get back to keyboard pounding, so just popping in to wave, grab more coffee and get back to writing

    be back later…

Still raining! I think the weather guy said 3 inches on the past 48 hours. Not drought-ending, but we’ll take it.

Since hearing about the elections in France, this song has been in my head: Rehumanize Yourself. “Billy’s joined the National Front, always was a little runt”. Amazing how prescient these guys were – there’s also a line in the song about how “violence here is a social norm”. I don’t know if we in the US are ignoring the European elections just out of habit or because we’re too involved with our own pain, but NF people winning elections is pretty damn scary.

Today will be super busy – the price people in customer service pay for a long weekend.

for “the late afternoon hour,” to use the parlance of the weather wenches. Perhaps I can get up a fund to buy them a book of basic English grammar or a copy of Strunk & White.

Did everyone have a good holiday? We had four successive days of perfect weather. Usually in this area Memorial Day is overcast and rainy.

Now waiting for Miss Pink Cheeks to finish her breakfast sso we can get on with the rest of the morning routine. Only four more days of day care, then I get her for the summer!  Have already started collecting tools and materials for the “scientific spearmints” we plan to conduct. Also looking for a wading pool big enough for her and her cousin.

Hubby’s lunching out today so perhaps I can get some work done.  Everyone have a good day!

While the air is chilly the sunshine and the sound of the birds makes me feel like summer is here. Our house guests will return to their home in Iowa today. It’s been a good visit. We have been friends for nearly 50 yrs…..how can that be!

now lots to catch up on.  If the puppy in the picture would just remember the claws those paws are currently hiding, he would very quickly think of how it could be worse.  I may have a new kitty joining my household.  Scruffy-looking little gray cat (not even sure the gender right now) I’ve been feeding for the last week or so – walked into my enclosed porch this morning.  So I closed my guys in the house, put out food, water, and litter box on the porch, and have made an appointment with the vet to check the kitty out.  We shall see what we shall see.  I don’t really need 3 kitties and if Charlie refuses to have the gray kitty in the house, I’ll find another place.  But I’m not leaving him/her to the wild world.  Back to work since I’m leaving early to go to the vet.  sigh.  Haz the gud dai in Moosylvania 🙂

I’ve got laryngitis, and there’s no point in being at a call center when you can’t talk. So I’m watching the Science Channel.
