Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. TGIF!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Heavy rain this morning, then 58 degrees (!!!) this afternoon. High of 60 (!!!!1!!11!!!) Tomorrow. Spring, is that you I see in the distance??

  2. 22 degrees in Madison on its way up to 26 degrees. We have sustained winds of 18 mph and gusts to 30 mph and a high wind warning is in effect until 8:30. The winds arrived about 9pm last night and made it difficult to sleep (that, and the searing image of a puck going into a goal with 30 seconds left in regulation). Now I just have to stay awake long enough to take an afternoon nap. 🙂

Laughing at Michele Bachmann over her comment suggesting that Barack Obama was elected because of “white guilt” helped a little bit. Yes, those “blah” people have all sorts of advantages in our Color Blind Post-Racial SocietytmJohn Roberts.

I have some major organizing to do today to get ready for a weekend of catching-up-on-work. See all y’alls later!

    This first:

President Barack Obama says Democrats must turn their focus to the states and to races for governor this year if they want to ensure that the party’s policies succeed.

Obama says the challenge in politics is that national races get all the attention. He says Democrats wind up in trouble in midterm years because they don’t think state races are, in his words, “sexy enough.”

He pointed out the damage being done in the Republican states and how it undermines Democratic Party principles at the national level. I am going to try to find the speech but it was probably closed to video.

In response to my request, The Dingbat has given my phone number to The Senior Researcher, the boss we both work for at the genealogy company. I still don’t know his name and can’t find it, even after working for him for, what? three years? I’d have to look it up.

This situation is so weird I don’t even know what I’m going to say. I demand to talk to him and then just stutter? God, I hope not.

I’m not sure how long he’s been at the company. Is he the owner who took over when Vice-President Flighty finally fled after trashing the place? Is he a well-known researcher who doesn’t want his name known? I’ll keep mulling it over.

Eating breakfast & drinking tea. It cooled down overnight, I had to wear enclosed shoes & even a jacket. My feet aren’t liking the shoes. Yes, I’ll call the doc.

Horribly sleepy again. Surprising, I know. Sleeping in till 7 tomorrow – we’ll see how much I actually sleep. My training group is having one last easy 3 mile walk tomorrow, then breakfast tacos.

Today’s goal, like yesterday’s, is just to stay awake.

Tomorrow is more or less the same with the lows getting lower – then into the 40s for highs starting Sunday.  Last night’s Quorum Court wasn’t as crazy as expected for a not very good reason.  Two of our County employees died this week so the TPs kept their mouths shut for a change and actually voted for, without quarreling – I mean questioning minute details that aren’t under our authority, all the items on the agenda.  Really sad that it takes people dropping dead to make them behave themselves.  Don’t worry – they’ll be back to their regular obstructive selves at the next Personnel committee meeting when we have to discuss filling those employees’ slots.  Everybody in Mooselandia have a good weekend and better health.  {{{HUGS}}} bf

Yesterday I finally found the remnants of curtain math in my creaky brain and got the work orders written for the basement studio and study…..4 roman shades, 4 trimmed and banded curtains for the small windows and 1 pair of draperies. I also lifted, rolled and measured over 80 yds of fabric and lining. Home decor sewing is a workout! I’m so relieved my friends workroom can do the actual sewing.

Now that the window coverings are underway we need to keep the clean up the space then paint it momentum going…..between naps, and visits to the pool and PT clinic unfortunately 🙂

The sky is really dark and it’s raining heavily. That will take care of the remaining snowpiles, I’m sure. Projected high is 55 F. today. Not sure what the temp. is right now because my Weatherbug thingy stopped working.

Everyone have a good evening and a good weekend!
