Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. TGIF! Hope it has been a good week for everyone.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

    Happy final Friday of 2013.

A clear brisk 28 here, headed to a balmy 45 degrees.

This weekend’s plans at Casa iriti include as little as possible. A slug impression, that’s my goal!

frost on the top of the pickup truck in the street below. Have been unable to sleep since 3 a.m., so finally decided what the hail, I’m getting up. No coffee yet though–I’m for a cuppa tea down in the family room by the woodstove.

Heartily applaud your plan to do a slug impression, iriti. I’m so glad it’s OVER! I’m getting too old to do the Christmas dinner any more. Next year I’ll let my son do it. Never mind that he’ll serve Beijing Duck instead of roast beef and Yorkshire–as long as he does the work, that’s fine. My 83-year-old hubby is still doing the Christmas dishes! Just a few more to go.

Too exhausted yesterday to do anything except stare. That uses 7 calories per hour. Got a party to go to tomorrow afternoon but other than that, plan to vege as much as possible.

  3. It is 22 degrees here on its way up to 31 … no snow in the forecast. This is normal December weather. (We don’t get to say that often anymore, do we?)

Today I will work and then deliver one of my holiday gifts: a trip to the mall for my daughter and her friend. If you knew how much I hate malls, hate shopping, and hate leaving the warmth of my home you would realize just how big a gift that is. 🙂

Now I have to go get my coffee.

a balmy 40. Wish I could pretend that I am a slug or use up 7 calories per hour staring at the wall but am already behind schedule. Sigh. Coffee.Soon.

Today I get to go to Home Depot and Be Very Calm as I tell them they have to pay for the electrician to move the outlet or add a new one so I can plug in the stove without an extension cord and pass inspection.

Technically this has to be done by Monday when the inspection is scheduled. Won’t make that, have to call and reschedule.

Last night I really didn’t want to lie awake ruminating over all this and more so I took a Xanax on top of my Trazodone and vitamins and such. No harm done, slept well, but I won’t do it again.

Today is going to be sunny and not very cold, so at least going out into the world (first time since Monday) won’t be bad weatherwise.

and it’ll be warm enough to go jacketless this afternoon

Slept late again — wow, is tomorrow going to hurt. Eating breakfast & watching the news (BBC America is showing other stuff now). Got no plans for the day — isn’t that nice? Sending good thoughts to L & her medical people.

And I just woke up! If Debbie Wasserman-Schultz hadn’t called me I’d still be sleeping 🙂

All I plan to do today is rest, read, listen to music, and slowly tidy up the Christmas mess, just as I did yesterday. I’m hoping for a bit more energy today though.

The young man was totally cooperative and forthcoming. He said “That’s unacceptable” as soon as I finished describing the problem. After I left he called the company that installed the stove and I guess he read them the riot act.

The installer will come out tomorrow and put in a new electrical outlet closer to the stove. They’ll also fasten the stove to the floor and level it. Presumably after all that’s done it will pass inspection on Monday.
