It’s bagelfest. How would you like your bagel?

Night of the Hunter1 – Mitchum or DeNiro?

Name a food you are afraid to eat. Would you dare to try it today and report back here?

Do you like your siblings’ lovers and/or spouses? If no siblings, how about best friends?

What’s in your wallet?

1 Renzo and bubbanomics have pointed out that I am confusing Cape Fear and Night of the Hunter. Night of the Hunter was only remade as a TV movie starring Dr. Kildare. I am leaving it up because Night of the Hunter is so fracking amazing that all of you should see it.

  1. It’s bagelfest. How would you like your bagel?

Bagels aren’t my favorite is a bialy with a nice shmear and, if I want to splurge, some sable with an onion.

Night of the Hunter – Mitchum or DeNiro?

    No opinion

Name a food you are afraid to eat. Would you dare to try it today and report back here?

There isn’t much that I am afraid to eat. I wouldn’t eat cat or dog, but they aren’t available here anyway. I did see that there is a popular dish in some South American country of whole roasted guinea pig – I might have trouble with that…. But I’ve eaten a lot of things!

Do you like your siblings’ lovers and/or spouses? If no siblings, how about best friends?

Yes I do. My sister’s husband was a wonderful man and a good friend through some of my tough years (as was my sister – she is 12 years older than I).

    What’s in your wallet?

Hmmm. Some money, ID, metrocard, insurance card, bank card, 2 credit cards, ACBL card (that’s bridge), “Gallon club” card (blood donor), library card and 2 gift cards that still have some money on them.

  3. The questions…

    • I like cinnamon raisin bagels warm and with cream cheese.

    • I won’t eat grubs. Nor will I test and report back. Sorry.

    • I like my sib-in-laws, all 8 of them. Some are kind of nutty.

    • Wallet has money, cards, IDs, and not much else. I like mine slim.

Jagger is 70 eh? Will they still be rockin’ at 80? I want to see it.

Have a good and interesting day. It is all or nothing.

Until they find out that he is Hispanic … and his last name is NOT Rubio. 🙂

I am entertained by the new Holder v Texas lawsuit to start adding some states back into pre-clearance status. North Carolina and Florida shouldn’t be too far behind. I feel a blog post burbling up and if I can clear the deck this morning for a while, I might post.

And may I say HAHAHAHA!! on the George Grosz, German painter hover? They can take solace in the fact that their brains are even smaller.

National Make Up Your Own Hover Day? No. Way. In. Hell. YOU are the hoverator.

poppyseed with just plain cream cheese, not toasted

Name a food you are afraid to eat. Would you dare to try it today and report back here?

afraid…. nothing I’m afraid of… I choose not to eat meat, but that’s not fear

Do you like your siblings’ lovers and/or spouses? If no siblings, how about best friends?

My best friend is going through a divorce. Finally.

    What’s in your wallet?

    not enough cash

    What’s in your wallet?

    Bagel:  Salmon and cream cheese.

I haven’t seen the DeNiro version, but the Mitchum performance is one of my favorite performances of all time.  Scary!

Afraid?  As in, “It might poison me?”  Or as in, “I probably won’t like it?”

Got no sibling who was ever married.  Not sure I have a best friend at this particular time.  My late good friend’s wife is very nice.

There will soon be nothing in my wallet relating to Capital One.  I’ve switched all my biz to the credit union, and will close my last bank account within a week.

    What’s in your wallet?

    Bagel:  plain with cream cheese

    DeNiro

Afraid of:  liver.  Never had it.  Never will.

My brothers wife is great for him.  It is a second marriage for both and they both have kids but they have blended very smoothly.  The only problem is they are so damn busy.

Wallet:  the usual and no cash.  Old receipts.

  8. Floja Roja

Pre-coffee, here. Let’s see what I can do.

It’s bagelfest. How would you like your bagel?

Toasted with cream cheese, a thick slice of beefsteak tomato, and a paper thin slice of red onion.

Night of the Hunter – Mitchum or DeNiro?

De Niro is great in his version, but Mitchum’s creeps me out way worse, possibly because it was the first of the two versions I saw.

Name a food you are afraid to eat. Would you dare to try it today and report back here?

Anything insect-related, or fugu. And hell no!

Do you like your siblings’ lovers and/or spouses? If no siblings, how about best friends?

My BiL is great. My sister usually had good taste in men, except one abuser. I’m not sure how that one happened (she was young, but very independent, and there was no pattern of such a thing in our family).

I had one good friend ages ago who fell for many questionable types, and she did this thing where she altered her personality to fit whoever she was seeing. This made those questionable choices way worse.

    What’s in your wallet?

Credit cards, debit cards, receipts, $6 in cash, library card, blood donor card, ID, a few business cards, a bunch of store discount cards, and two Sears gift cards I haven’t used yet.

  9. bubbanomics

will be back when i’m not phoning it in…  meanwhile…

It’s bagelfest. How would you like your bagel?

    toasted with cream cheese.

night of the hunter?  do you mean Cape Fear?  If there’s a deNiro Night of the Hunter I totally missed it.

Name a food you are afraid to eat.

    Can’t think of one.

Do you like your sibling’s spouse?

Yeah, I do.  he’s all right.

    What’s in my wallet?

Well, a capital one card, sadly, along with other cards, insurance cards, DL, Uni ID, and a bit of green. no pics or memorabilliia.

more later when platform and bandwidth allow.

  10. raina

Everything bagel toasted then topped with cream cheese and chives

Animal organs, reptiles, arachnids, worms and insects, unusual mammals, things with tentacles, etc. No I refuse to try them. Otherwise, I do try new to me foods.

Yeah I get along with my in-laws.

Cash, assorted cards, and some receipts mostly.

  11. Drone Policy Is the Most Important Racism

If you are privileged enough to suddenly feel scared of the government, you are complicit in denying the violence against marginalized people that has always existed.

… the Zimmerman case shone a spotlight on discrete racist aspects of the justice system, and Obama’s statements contributed to the public energy around the effort to end them. Obama’s symbolic importance is far from the mere token that West describes: it is powerful enough for white men to start vomiting feelings all over everyone because the President, for once, isn’t talking about them.

  12. Avilyn

It’s bagelfest. How would you like your bagel?  Un-toasted, with cream cheese

Night of the Hunter1 – Mitchum or DeNiro? Haven’t seen either, or Cape Fear

Name a food you are afraid to eat. Would you dare to try it today and report back here?  Afraid?  Can’t think of anything I’m afraid to try.  Lots of things I don’t like though

Do you like your siblings’ lovers and/or spouses? If no siblings, how about best friends?  My one sibling is divorced; regarding friends, all of the spouses get along on both sides.

What’s in your wallet?  Drivers License, Car Registration and Insurance, AAA card, Blood Donor cards, Health Insurance Cards, Pictures of my nieces & my mom, various store rewards/discount cards, credit cards, debit card, a spare key, some gift cards, business cards, library card, PBA card, and some cash
