Sunday Morning Moose Check In – Peeps Extravaganza

Be sure and let your peeps know where you are.

 photo peeppresbo.jpg

For those that are new to the Purple, I would like to welcome you. Have fun taking a look around and checking out the your new digs. If you are an established Moose, pull up a barka lounger and grab a cuppa whatever type java suits your mood.

Morning Check In’s are for hanging out and visiting, gossiping, asking questions, and sharing. Please keep in mind that comments do not auto refresh. You have to click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones.

Also keep in mind that fierces don’t get you mojo. Being well behaved and following the golden rule does. The golden rule is very simple. “Be excellent to each other… or else”.

Morning Check In’s are also a good place to make a great second impression. My best piece of advice to those in this cat-agory is to leave the past in the past.

Feel free to introduce yourself or ask any questions you have in the comments. No reason to be shy.

Welcome to the first annual Peeps Extravaganza! Feel free to be creative this morning. Bring out your Peeps(said in my best Monty Python voice)!

41 degrees with a high of 50. We are expecting rain on and off. I’ll take it.

A Sunday morning earworm for my Sweets.

Left over Peeps? Here are some ideas for you.

    PEEP Waldorf salad

10 Peeps, whole, preferably pink or yellow

3 just ripe bananas, 1/2 inch dice

2 large navel oranges, sectioned, 1/2 inch pieces, and juice from one more

    12 maraschino cherries, halved

    1/2 cup shredded coconut

    2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

    1 tablespoon orange-flavored liqueur

1/4 cup finely chopped macadamias, or pecans, or almonds

Mix all the ingredients, allow to macerate for a couple of hours, stirring a few times.

Serve as dessert with coconut cookies.

    Rice Krispy Peeps

Decapitate 20 peeps, reserving the heads. (Fresh peeps work best). Make Rice Krispy Treats according to package directions, substituting peep bodies for the marshmallows. Pour mixture into pan and press into place. Mentally divide the pan into squares and press one peep head into each “square” while the mixture is still warm. Cool and cut into squares.

  3. The “moment will be right for me” as soon as I go dig through my peep folder in Photobucket.

It is 39 degrees here but my feet are still cold!!!

    Back in a minute!

    with y’all

    my bunny day breakfast

(well I had a banana and yogurt and coffee too)

I just polished off a box.  I don’t have to share either cause hubby bought his own – he has purple’s and pinks

He gave me the blue’s and yellows

    O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

Warmer here, 39 degrees headed to a high of 55, but supposed to be rainy (just overcast right now). In other words, actual Spring weather. I don’t know how to act.

  6. I am not a peeps gal, so it’s all a little lost on me.

Trying to wake up after nowhere near enough sleep last night. Hours awake cogitating. blech…

Hope everyone has a good day. We’ll head for the Jim’s-family party, and then backtrack to Daughter in IA’s home for a while.

  7. I like the bathtub peeps. Won’t they get a bad case of soggy bottoms after a while?

I looked for a funny peep picture to share. A couple that caught my eye didn’t seem suitable for a mixed audience. Maybe my google filter is set too low.

  8. Tried to sleep in some more but the kitties were willing but my arthritis and sinus infection were not. Going to go work on some art in a minute. Have a picture in my head that has to come out and get into the computer.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter. I have my diary up with my Easter pictures. The coffee for Sunday brunch is Archer Farm’s Irish Cream. Yummy.

Here are some eggs for you today.

Slept in yesterday and didn’t sleep worth a darn last night!

I’m an evil aunt.  Grandpa is evil as well.  We make the kids wait until after dinner before they can collect all the eggs around the downstairs.  Most of them are in plain sight.  During dinner, they’re plotting their strategy to collect the most.  Then we make them wait until most of the dishes have been cleared and taken care of……

Grandpa is the meanest though… sometimes he’ll come to the family room, sit down and say that they can’t collect eggs (or open presents at Christmas) until he’s had his nap.  He’s just teasing them with that one.  But, the comments from the kids is always great and entertaining!

Eggs have been filled and hid (I don’t use real eggs as they never find them all and I miss them as well.)  Dinner ingredients are on the counter, ready and waiting.  Dinner will be around 4pm.

I’m waking up, but Gaffer was discouraging it earlier. He planted himself on my chest, and wanted nothing to do with my getting up.

A little of my (non)traditional Easter music, courtesy of Murray Head (the original singer of this, but this is obviously not the original version) – with an assist from Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Weber…

Happy Easter all.  My kids are all egg hunted out.  Now they just want to eat the candy all at once and we are trying to distract them with other things.  The power of sugar is strong.

  12. pittiepat

peep pictures and comments.  But I may be the only person in the USA who has never, ever eaten one!  Not all that crazy about marshmallow and they have WAY too much sugar.

Warm now but we might have severe weather this afternoon. Hmmmm.

Eating breakfast & watching “best of” Chris Hayes. Gonna put the “granola” on to bake soon, and boil the carrots & onions for the carrot/ginger soup (they need a while to cool down do I can  put then in the food processor).

Do y’all remember about a month ago, an assistant D.A. in north Texas was shot on his way in to work? Well, the D.A. in that same county, and his wife were killed in their home. Wtf?? I would be so freaked out if I lived there – I’m kinda freaked out here. I’m friends with the County Attorney, know the District Attorney somewhat – and lots of Assistants in both offices. I don’t like this at all.

Anyway, happy Easter. Here’s what I’m wearing:

    pretty purple shoes:

might become a wet one. Friends used to have a big Polish Easter party where we could each have a decorated egg and go around tapping the end of one’s own egg to the ends of others until one’s egg got cracked, The last one to have an uncracked egg got a chocolate bunny and then we all dug into the meal. I loved it. But everyone is just too tired these days to think about cooking a holiday meal so it’s restaurant lunch day.  Hope it’s a good Peep day for all whatever you choose to celebrate. Tomorrow, April comes.

Just made not opening the next box that much harder. 🙂

Happy Easter, Passover, Spring to all you wonderful Mooses.

We had rain overnight but now it’s only partly cloudy.

Sore neck from sleeping funny but I’m otherwise feeling pretty wonderful. Now all I need is more coffee or maybe a mimosa or two… 🙂

  17. wordsinthewind

the coconut macaroons are baked and cooling, my hands are better today and we’ve just had a cool front blow in from the north. Since it got to almost 90 yesterday it’s a nice relief even if windy.

…I finally made it into the park. Was on a walk with a friend and we went to the Botanical Garden. I was amazed at the many changes I saw since the last time I was there over a year ago. Most depressingly, they now have an entrance fee if you don’t possess a San Francisco ID. Now, this is no skin off MY nose, but I hate seeing public facilities go this route.

Anyway, the paths in the Garden include many slight inclines that were hard for me, so I wasn’t able to explore much and had to return home too quickly. But I DID it! 🙂

Checked my Twitter conversations and found that

    I’ve gotten replies from @UpPastryPlate and @EzraKlein!

The Easter Bunny is sleeping in so I do not yet have my Easter basket, but I know it is coming.  Not sure if it will contain any Peeps, but this diary sure has a basketful of them!  Love the creativity out there.

55 degrees and drizzling in the Armstrong Valley.  Got about an hour of gardening in yesterday, and that may be it for the weekend as I have a lot of work-type work to do before tomorrow…

    Happy Easter/Passover/Spring!

  21. slksfca

…just in time to avoid a sudden downpour. It was sunny and warm out and I barely needed a jacket, but an ominous black cloud came out of nowhere and dumped a pile of rain (which is still going on, fitfully). Plus I just heard the rumble of thunder off in the distance.

Today in another part of the City the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are holding their annual Hunky Jesus contest. I’m thinking it will be a Hunky WET Jesus contest, but I sincerely doubt that this will distress any of the onlookers. 😉

  22. slksfca

…on Cook’s Country they just made the juiciest looking patty melts, loaded with grilled onions and melted cheese. Mmmmmmm. I’m almost hungry enough to ditch my upcoming nap and go get one from the neighborhood diner. But after my morning walk I’m too comfy and settled in, so eating anything will have to wait awhile.

I hope everyone’s having a very happy Easter Sunday!

Whew. Since getting home from church, I: peeled & cooked carrots, onion, zucchini & ginger then put them in the food processor after they cooled off; peeled & cooked another onion to cook in sauce for – 2 bunches of kale that I cooked with shitake mushrooms; zested an onion & put that in olive oil that is for – the broccoli that is cooling off now. Oh – and before church I put flaxseeds that had been soaking overnight in water & spices in the oven, baked them with cranberries & almonds. Wow I’m tired.

Eating spicy popcorn tofu (it is seriously yummy) & the last of last week’s kale with the sauce (onion cooked in coconut milk with many spices). Tired, clearing out the dvr.  Watched this morning’s MHP show, 2 episodes of Dr. Who (I liked Christopher Eccelston – watched Bad Wolf; then The End of Time, which made me cry even though I’ve seen it several times); and an episode of Firefly. Gotta clear out the dvr some time.
