    Though I have some Venezuelan friends who despised him

    But he was a popular figure in his own country, and provided a much needed voice. You could disagree with his solutions (though more rarely with his critique) and so the world is a poorer place for his passing.

    I learned from Thom Hartmann.  Namely that he nationalized the nation’s oil reserves and used the money to pay for universal health care.  That much sounds good, although like I said, I don’t know much about his policies/politics overall.   My thoughts are wish the people of Venezuela.
