Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Wednesday Morning Herd Check-in and Open Thread for the Moosekins

Make sure you let your peeps know where to find you!

If you are new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh.

– Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does.

– Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment thread gets longer, it takes a bit to reload and the comment may not display as quickly. Clicking the Post button twice puts the comment out there twice. (h/t Khloe)

– When creating a new diary, remember to choose the Draft option (near the bottom) while you are working on it. Choose the Public option when you want to publish it. (h/t Khloe)

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Here is a great link to have open in a tab: Motley Moose Recent Comments

This is pretty darned easy to remember … the posting rules for a new diary:

It didn’t snow, rain, sleep, ice, or fog last night. In my book, that makes it a great day!

    A separate thought…….

    for words….

Been engrossed in stuff at work.  I fell asleep during the SOTU! 🙁

But at least read following here.  Appreciate that! Needed for people so exhausted they can’t stay awake once the body goes horizontal! Lol

currently 32&deg, with an expected high of 45. Rain is forecast for this afternoon, and if my sinuses are any indication, we’re going to get that rain.

Except for the shingles (to be put on this morning) and door (to be custom made by me this weekend – I didn’t like the door that came with the building), the workshop is built. I’ll post photos to bore everybody with at a later date. We have 60 days to paint it, according to the warranty. However, the siding is already primed, so that should go fairly quickly.

Talked to the power company rep Monday afternoon. We came up with a plan that not only will get power to the building, but will make it much easier to get power to the house when we build it. And, no hook-up fees! Only costs will be the breaker panel and assorted stuff needed in the building, a trencher to trench for underground cable, and the conduit to put the cable in then bury.

bear watching Rubio. He turned me off with his first sentence so I turned him off. Will now read the reviews and see how the MSM thought he did.

22 going up to near 40 here in st Charles.  We may go for a walk later. I have what feels like a sinus infection though.  Need ibuprofen more than coffee this morning.  Have a great day all.

central NJ. It should be a nice day, but we will be getting more snow tonight. I hope it is only the 1-3 inches that the weather service has predicted. I need to be in the office early tomorrow for office hours and my grad seminar.

Nothing new in my department… unfortunately…  Will they please hurry up and tell me that they want to hire me!?!?!?!?

Mixed on the Speech last night.  I heard a few things that could mean too many different things, particularly about earned benefits.

it’s in the high 20s this morning heading for a nice warm up later. We’ll be installing another window as soon as it warms up a bit. I’ve just about finished clearing out mr w’s office, otherwise known as the place where paper goes to die. I’ve been chipping away on the borders for a week now and yesterday mr w had the horrible realization that I was very close to his desk. I’m expecting him to make some preemptive strikes on it today to ward me off.

It is a gray sky and 27 degrees in the Burgh. We may get a bit of snow later on.

The cats are very excited-there are very chirpy birds in our bushes just by the windows. I really think the birds enjoy teasing the pooties 🙂

A brisk 40* this AM in North Texas and it is supposed to top out somewhere around 60*

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday.

We should reach the upper 50s later on when I do errands in the ‘hood.

President did a good job last night, better on substance than on style, which is fine with me. So it wasn’t a campaign barnburner. I liked it. 🙂

    N. Texas. So glad I didn’t give in to my gardening ambition last week– the temps drop down to below freezing here last night. We’re suppose to be on a warming trend here for the next few days, but I’m still expecting a big weather surprise. After the freaky snow in April six or seven years ago, I don’t trust spring is here until the temps start sticking to 80 and above!

I’ve got the PT pool this morning and my grand girls this afternoon….and I’m already needing a nap. It’s going to be a sleepy day, all day. But I won’t forget to have fun regardless!
