Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Wednesday Morning Herd Check-in and Open Thread for the Moosekins

Make sure you let your peeps know where to find you!

If you are new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh.

– If you Fail someone accidentally, it is no big deal. Meesely Mentor Chris Blask on “mojo”:

“The Moose doesn’t do “mojo” in a standard fashion. Credit is earned on a more amorphous social basis than traditional blogoprofiling – more like real life.”

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Here is a great link to have open in a tab: Motley Moose Recent Comments

as I went to bed too late last night.

But…the snow wasn’t a lot and the temps are in the upper 20’s, so I will be leaving shortly.

Plan B is get a really, really big cup of coffee 🙂

    Good morning!

  2. Khloe

Got back on my physical therapy schedule, tiring, but a good tired. 🙂

Its cold, but not as been the past few days.  I wish the sun would just come out already!  Tired of gray days. 🙁

Trying to catch up with stuff at home these days… In Preparation I have no  time when Spring hits coz hopefully I’ll be out in the garden! 🙂 🙂

It’s wednesday…. Thank goodness.  Two more days and its Saturday!

  4. Moozmuse

Going to be between 32 and 24° (nights) the next couple of days. Good thing I went to the store and stocked up Saturday, so I’m good for a week or two.

  5. Poll Puts Steve King Atop GOP Senate Primary In Iowa

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) is the favorite among Iowa Republicans to run in next year’s contest to replace retiring Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), according to the latest survey from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling. The poll showed 41 percent of usual GOP primary voters in the state identifying King as their preferred candidate over three other Republicans

This is the type of guy that Karl Rove is warning about. He would be crushed in a general election matchup with former Gov. Tom Vilsack (D). But it would be one ugly contest.

This is increasingly a problem for Republicans:

While 63 percent of Republicans in Iowa have a favorable opinion of King, only 32 percent of all registered voters feel the same way.

They and their candidates are out of the mainstream. Their coalition is shrinking and they have no way to get any feedback because they are stuck in their right-wing echo chamber.

of days to all in Moose Land from a thirty one degree NYC. It almost feels tropical after the last few days!

  7. Jk2003

10 degrees in st Charles.  Up to 30 today.  It’s my husbands day off so that is nice.  I am going to knit a bit today, roast a chicken and make some bread.

  8. ‘Monopoly’ iron token is out, cat is in with fan vote

The Monopoly iron is going off to that giant linen closet in the sky.

The token, a staple of the Hasbro board game since the 1930s, is being retired after only garnering 8% of fan votes in a “Save Your Token” campaign. The Scottie dog was the clear choice for fans and game players from 185 countries, getting 29% of the vote.

Probably most people did not even recognize what the “iron” token was depicting. When was the last time you used an iron?

It’s funny because last night I was thinking it hadn’t rained in quite a while. My mind is a powerful thing.

Just testing links and pics here, if you don’t mind. Sitting in the shop, putting off doing the next project. I lost my sourdough starter for pizza dough (too cold in the kitchen, gonna have to start another one soon as it warms up here. I make a breakfast pizza, too…3 cheeses, 3 sunnysideup eggs. Dipping the crust into the yolks is heaven. mmm, I must be hungry.

    i despise being a patient!

also, i can’t help but know that my disease is quite likely conquerable, or at least more manageable however, no one stands to make any money to cure it.  they do stand to make lots of money keeping it chronic.

sound cynical?  it is.  i know how medicine works, i practiced among physicians for an awfully long time.  granted, my patients were dead, but i always wondered, of those who died of disease, why, in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, more couldn’t have been done to stop the progression of some of the diseases. researchers aren’t working on cures much anymore, they’re working on glitzy treatments.

i’ll try to stop by to drop fierces on everyone later.  now i gotta get on that horrid freeway to dallas.

you all have a wonderful day.  don’t think about me please.  who wants to be depressed thinking about being poked, prodded and tested at a hospital anyway?  LOL  HUGS everyone.

Free water from the sky! Slow and steady so far, but now that I’m heading out for an appointment, I expect the downpours to begin.

Happy birthday to slksfca – no roses in my photo basket, but here’s a hydrangea from my Carolina garden.
