Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

The Making Location (working title)

Greetings once again oh creative people!

I have a new poll.  After this we should probably poll for day of week.

Tonight I baked an apple cobbler but I do not have a photo and it is nearly gone.

Monday night I finished this reversible hat:

I learned a lot:

Lining is tricky yet achievable.

Decrease even more stitches for the cuff when starting the hat, a full 10% of final stitch count is better.

Cascade220 Superwash does not knit quite as thickly as the regular Cascade220.

Here are my children modeling the two sides:

I love the top shaping of hats – I learned the even decreases in a class one or two years ago, and just love love love the shape and the swirl.

At first, I decrease one row, and knit one row plain.  After several rounds of this, I decrease every row.  Then it swirls.  For kicks and giggles, these decreases are all ssk, to see if it made a difference.

Here is the purple top, with k2 decrease:

Yesterday was a hard day.  I thought about coming home & having a glass of wine after I dropped my kids off at their dad’s place.  Instead, I went to the bead store, and made new earrings, to match my new bracelet.

i’m going to read to and tuck kids in bed, and made a quick news diary next.  ðŸ˜‰

    ????

    😉

Question on the hat… Is this all one piece? So you started at top, increased then finished at bottom decreased?

    Very cool hat! 🙂

    And love the earring.

Very bad pootie.  Well… Not really. But i had a dream that a kitten was dropped off at my doorstoop!! Eeeeeek!

In the same dream, both Kitten and Pootie #1 got up into the attic where they’re not supposed to go.

Last night (for real, no dream) two were pushing me all over the bed in their sleep!

    I like All Things Made….

    🙂

and i crochet.  my son wants me to sell my beadwork, he says mine is much better than much of it he’s seen online.  of course he’s my kid so i’m not taking that to heart.  i also have a great beadwork program to make patterns out of photographs, it even matches the delicas to the colors in the picture (sort of bead pointilism).  i’d love a series like this!

with paper, the more improabable the better. Once I’ve figured it out though I loose interest in making more. I also grow gourds and have been exploring different techniques with them. So far I’ve done some elaborate carving with a dremmel tool and some with a pyrography tool. Those are fun if time consuming, the prep is arduous and produces toxic dust so there’s a lot of protective gear involved.

because I still have the gold merino/silk stuff on the wheel.  Just a sock but I somehow managed to slip out of the bird of paradise pattern halfway down the heel  o.0

Also, I suck at taking non-blurry photos.

bobbin lace…So far so good. Gets a little confusing when one stitch can have a number of names–cloth stitch/whole stitch/linen stitch…All the same process! But I’m getting there.

Have a pair socks going on for my daughter, should be making another tutu in a day or two along with the little crocheted ballet slippers, some snood orders–ren faire season is set to open in a couple of months and a crocheted helmet hat. That should keep me busy for a while!

i also add beads to my lace crochet.  that can be a hassle as they have to be threaded before you start your project but with practice they are not that difficult and make an impression.  i made some snowflakes one year for my mother, she promptly gave them to someone else, that woman, apologized  for mother’s act, but, was so happy and pleased with them that she ordered several sets for her daughters.  she did offer to return them to me, but i wanted her to have them since they made her happy.  i don’t think she’s spoken to mother again, although she calls me now and then to find out how i am.
