    Asked at a pre-Super Bowl news conference whether he would call Native Americans “Redskins” to their faces, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell refused to answer and reiterated the league’s position that the team “has presented the name in a way that…has honored Native Americans.”

    No. The ad shown in this diary honors Native Americans, not the name “Redskins”.

    And “80 years of history” is no excuse for allowing this “just a team name” to stand.

    There was 100+ years of American history allowing human beings to own other human beings. Some things need to be ended.

    How come there is not an NFL team called the “Negroes?” Or since it is skin tone the NFL thinks is OK, maybe the “Darkies” or “Coloreds?”
