Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Thursday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

in the Washington metro area. Somehow things don’t seem so bad when the sun is shining.  I’m over at my son’s house giving  Miss Pink Cheeks her breakfast while she watches “Little Bill.” She listens respectfully when I tell her that Big Bill once had the most popular TV show in the country. In fact I once read that burglars preferred to burgle at 8 p.m. Thursdays, when they knew everyone would be watching the “Bill Cosby Show.”

Oh, well.  Hoping when I get home I’ll find that the desktop publisher has sent the illos for my Imbolc story. She’s going to start formatting stories for the e-book this weekend.

Besides Imbolc starting tomorrow and Candlemas on Sunday, did you know that tomorrow is the first day of Chinese New Year?

Hope everyone will stay warm, safe, and healthy today! 🙂

Cab will be here soon. I can eat in approximately 4 hours! If I feel good enough & D doesn’t think I’m goofy, I’ll take her out to eat on the way home. Otherwise, given the 5 hours of sleep last night, I’m going to bed when I get home. Sad thing is, even with the stomach disturbances, that really wasn’t less sleep than normal for me.

I may check in later, but if I’m goofy, tell me to shut down the computer.

    CAVU though so that helps.  I feel like crap – the cold virus is going through all the usual cold virus things and last night hit the gelatinous mucus/can’t breathe stage so no sleep.  Had a last minute wa-a-a-a-a-a-y after the deadline change for Fall classes.  Can’t do it myself at this stage so I forwarded it on to the Dean’s office and am waiting to hear back from them.  And JanF’s LOLCAT pic looks suspiciously like my bathroom this morning – a certain kitteh, Cloud by name, decided the new roll of TP was just too good to miss.  And he didn’t (miss).  Anyway, I hope iriti and the rest of the folks in mooseland are having a good day and healing up faster than I seem to be.  {{{HUGS}}}

And unless I’ve missed something (like I did yesterday) we only have three medical appointments….progress!

It’s a lot to keep up with but thankfully we have the care and attention we need and we don’t have to worry about how to pay for it because between Medicare and the supplemental insurance we’ll be fine. I just can’t understand why so many of the R’s don’t want everyone to have the same security.

Everything’s fine, no polyps. I don’t have to go back for 10 years. There is diverticulosis, so they said be sure to stay on a high fiber diet.

I ate – and food is glorious. Omelette with avocado, and black beans. And I had some chocolate just now.

Going to sleep, I’ll be back later.

Had a nice nap. According to my fitbit, that was 81% efficient sleep. Now I’m eating dinner & watching tv. Chris Mathews was yelling too much, I had to flip away from that.

Had my Amy’s risotto. I think I’m finally not hungry. But I do want some chocolate. And now to stay awake for a few hours.

    Did I miss anything today?
