Be sure and let your Peeps know where you are.

No need to rec this diary. Just hum a few bars and I will know you liked it.

Welcome to Friday. A few more hours and it will finally be the weekend!

For those that are new to the Purple, I would like to welcome you. Have fun taking a look around and checking out the your new digs. If you are an established Moose, pull up a lounger and grab a cuppa whatever type java suits your mood.

Morning Check In’s are for hanging out and visiting, gossiping, asking questions, and sharing. Please keep in mind that comments do not auto refresh. You have to click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones.

Also keep in mind that fierces don’t get you mojo. Being well behaved and following the golden rule does. The golden rule is very simple. “Be excellent to each other… or else”.

with an expected high of 67. Maybe a bit of rain later. Another beautiful day half way up.

I will be going back to sleep for a couple of hours. Tis 4AM here and the bed still looks inviting.

  2. Khloe!!!! Nice to see you kicking off the check in.

TGIF indeed. I did not have a buffer weekend last week and I need weekends where I have no deadlines or client calls/emails … everything done at my pace.

It is 66 degrees here expected high of 75 degrees and a chance of storms. I just checked the radar and they appear to be south of me.

Weather on the radio but I wasn’t listening. Think that could be the story of my life!  Much to do today.Hope it’s an easy day for all.

O, if it would simply stay like this until November 1!  But I know we’ll have weeks of high humidity after this.

Miss Preschooler is having a sleepover with us tonight.  We might work on a jigsaw puzzle; we will definitely go to bed on time and read our storybooks.  Today there’s a camping and pool party at day care so she’ll have a fun day.

I’ll be working at headquarters this afternoon from 1 until about 4, then I’ll pick her up.  So far–dare I say it? Holding my breath–our candidate is doing very well and racking up support all over the place.

Yesterday one of her opponent’s people, a young woman (looked college age) came to my door, canvassing for support for her candidate.  As soon as I heard his name I shook my head.

    “Transvaginal,” I said.

She looked a question at me.

“I-will-never-vote-for-a-member-of-the-Transvaginal-Probe party,” I said distinctly.  “So I’m afraid you’re wasting your time here.”

She left. I hope Virginia women all over the state will refuse to vote for the trio of wild-eyed kooks who are the Rethug nominees for our top state offices.

    Everyone have a good Friday!

100+ degree days for the forseeable future, blah blah blah. And the damned students will be back probably this weekend or next week. I’ll know because the number of near-death experiences I have in Austin traffic will increase exponentially. Adding 50,000 people to the mix will do that.

I feel ok this morning. I was even asleep when the alarm went off. Have had 350ml of water so far. Now I’m eating beans & spinach and drinking tea.

These 2 segments from last night’s All In…. wow, this is why I’m a fan:

Krystal Ball: ‘As soon as you turn a woman into a whore, you undermine her credibility’

Today: just work, didn’t bring workout gear. Oh, I do have to figure out what’s for lunch next week, so I can plan grocery shopping.

Work went well yesterday.  It was good to see everyone.  No crazy emergencies or sad cases so that was nice.  Just a lot of good dogs and cats to help.

It’s raining here.  Supposed to off and on all day.  Cool tomorrow!  Can’t wait.  We are going to clean and do laundry today.  Exciting huh?  Too bad, needs to be done.

    Have a great day all.

it’s a beautiful sunny morning here in the desert, heading for another hot summer day. We have a busy weekend coming up, it is our community’s annual reunion where anyone who has ever lived and gone to school here is welcomed. People come from long distances for this and show their true west Texas roots by scheduling it for July. I find it lots of fun, seems like every year I manage to hear at least one story I hadn’t heard before. The rest of them bring on the MEGO effect (my eyes glaze over) pretty quick so I don’t go to all the events.

I have been presented with some difficult decisions to make, which require considerable time to sort through.  Unfortunately, time is not something I have in abundance at the present moment, so I don’t know when (or if) I will have time to come up with workable courses of action.  Right now, none of them seem viable.

And, frankly, the problems I face at work have potential consequences which require them to be triaged up way higher than maintaining a comfortable place for me to have my morning coffee with friends and co-laborers in the causes of justice.

Much as I hate segregation in any form, if I am to participate in discussions on the tubez at all, I am beginning to think I probably belong in an online community where the shared values are faith based rather than political, as passionate as I am about the latter, and as important as it is to me to suss out just what it means to “render unto Caesar” in a democratic system.

Well, that and coffee of which I need moar 🙂  You got me beat for nice weather – but ours is giving us a short reprieve as we’ve got low 60s and high 70s (with real water falling from the sky, too, at the moment which is 0836 CDT).  It’s supposed to be a quiet day with the Chair being out.  We shall see.  He’s already sent me 2 emails with stuff to check.  Anyway, it is indeed a wonderful world (iriti, how you coming with the reprise of that?) and I’m planning on enjoying anything I can today.  {{{HUGS}}} to da mooses.  bf

to get a few things done. It shouldn’t take me too long. I’ll do some hanging out when I get back. It’s up to 51 degrees out here.

In the meantime, here is some more music in case anyone needs it.

Khloe and I are having a visitor today: Ursoklevar! She’s driving down from the Denver area, bringing along an old friend, and we’re all going to the local diner for lunch.

My cast was removed yesterday, revealing a thumb that looks like it’s been wrestling with alligators. It appears my weekend plans include lots and lots of PT. 🙂

It’s a beautiful day in northern Delaware, and we’re taking advantage by going out. Okay, it’s errands, and they have to be done, but we plan to enjoy the day, too.

Yesterday was a bit of yard work we’d been neglecting due to the humidity, mostly – we did weeding, clipping, and Rich gave the edger a good workout, too. Perhaps this evening we’ll do some bundling of pine branches for yard waste pickup. Or perhaps not. Time will tell.

I’m officially out of my prescription NSAID, so I’m having to make do with Aleve and Tylenol til I can see if I can coax another refill out of my Tucson doctor. Searching for a doctor out here is hard with little money and no insurance. 😐

    Research, research, research.

Woke up at 5am but today I did manage to get back to sleep right away.

Foggy again, but not especially cold. We’re getting a lot of subtropical moisture from the south, or so they say, which is keeping temperature mild.

Katie’s operation is done. David said her spleen was huge. I had to laugh, he sounded so gobsmacked. He called it a “monster.” Something tells me the size of my kitty’s spleen will turn up in his conversations with colleagues for a while.

He also said she’s been “singing Jimi Hendrix” after the surgery; he’s giving her opiate pain relievers. I’ll learn about post-op care when I pick her up this evening. Thanks to everybody for your good thoughts.

David showed me a picture of the spleen. It is indeed huge. He could write a journal article on it.

K is wearing one of those surgical collars. She could take it off if she’d sit in the living room with me or somewhere I could see her, but she won’t. I did give her some food, then put the collar back on.

Anyway, she’s back and very peppy. Happy I am.

and looks serene and dignified, all unruffled. Her underside, not so much-it’s pink and naked and stapled. Memo to self: take photos of both angles.

Thanks for the good wishes. We both appreciate them.
