Open Thread: Local Moose Does Good!

A very Motley congratulations to one of our favorite Moose!

DeniseVelez (Deoliver47 on dKos) has been named as the first dKos ‘Class of 2011’ Frontpager.

Kos himself announced the welcomed news just a bit ago…the reaction thus far has been OVERWHELMINGLY supportive and appreciative…a decision worthy of a bit of celebration!

While she has long blogged on dKos under Deoliver47, she will be FP’ing under Denise Oliver-Velez. I’m sure the BKos family and porch denizens are equally thrilled.

It is wonderful to see Kos recognize what we have all known for a long time. Congrats to Dee and mad props to Kos. It seems that I, for one, will be reading the FP over at the GOS more often.  /grin

dKos just jumped miles in the esteem of MANY.

Give ’em whatfor, Dee…

I have been beaming since I saw the news…and I know I’m not the only ‘proud Moose’ right now.  ðŸ˜‰

So, gang…drop by and give your congrats to Dee (and thanks to Kos) for her promotion to the GOS-FP.  /grin

The founding of the Moose, Obama victory and Denise as a frontpager are the happiest days of my moosey life.

Denise. You know how mucho I love you and I am so very happy right now.

Don’t even know what to write.

I’ll have a lot more to say in the coming days, months, years.

You’ll be even busier now, but don’t forget the Moose.  We need you!

    And what a gorgeous photo!!!

  4. …for left Blogistan, for the future of liberal politics in the US, indeed the whole free world!

Kind of serious about that hyperbike ya know, so no quibbles.

It’s also great that Denise finally gets outed in a proper way (those trolls of the past are just smoke and ashes) because all you’ve got to do is read her work, understand the background, and accusations of ‘sellout’ just fall by the wayside like dead gnats.

It’s from people like Denise I still learn things: above all, in politics, how to build coalitions, by having an open mind, but one which won’t bend to prejudice of any kind; how to nurture and encourage people to work together, yet never becoming too cliquey or too buddy-friendly that anyone need be excluded; how explore tough issues of competing injustices without taking sides against individuals, but still firmly committing yourself to a cause.

In short the career of an organiser and teacher, rather than an activist and lecturer

(And yes I love the headscarf shot too. I am right in thinking Denise is taken? Just asking..)

Rhode Island’s Senate has approved a bill legalizing civil unions.  The bill has already passed the General Assembly so on to the Governor it goes.  Chafee is expected to sign it, per a spokesman.
